Listening - Reading score conversion
Use the tables below to convert correct answers into band scores. Listening uses the same conversion scale for Academic and General Training. Reading has a separate conversion table for each test format.

Writing overall score
Task 2 counts twice as much as Task 1. Each task is scored on four criteria, then the two task scores are combined into the final Writing band.
Note: Task 1 and Task 2 do not have the same weight. Task 2 is multiplied by 2 when the Writing score is calculated.

Speaking overall score
The examiner scores the full speaking test using four criteria. There is no separate score for each Part. The final Speaking band is the average of those four criteria.

The IELTS Overall score is the average of the four skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The result is then rounded to the nearest 0.5 or whole number.
